Bouaké, the second largest city in Côte d'Ivoire, has a population of about 570,000 and more than 1.5 million including its entire urban area.
During the late spring and summer of 2018, the city experienced an acute crisis situation in terms of water supply. This situation is linked to the drying up of the La Loka dam lake, the main source of drinking water supply for the city and surrounding areas.
In order to cope with this shortage of drinking water, the Ministry of Hydraulics has launched a project to strengthen the drinking water supply system with the aim of meeting the demand for water by 2045 and ensuring the sustainable security of this system in the city of Bouaké. Project for which PFO has signed a financing, design and implementation contract with the Ivorian authorities.
PFO then signed a sub-contracting contract with Veolia for the following missions:
- the design, supply, assembly and commissioning of all the equipment for the 2,500 m³/h treatment plant, the raw water pumping station and the water intake.
- rehabilitation of the existing plant
- general project management
This new project strengthens the partnership between Veolia and PFO in Côte d'Ivoire.
